What the surviving evidence establishes
Max Cavalera discussed Soulfly’s Omen with PyroMusic’s Brendan Crabb, also known as Spiritech, in an interview excerpted by Blabbermouth on 28 July 2010. He described the record as a continuation of the heavier direction he had pursued on Dark Ages and Conquer, with a stronger hardcore element.
His explanation of Bloodbath and Beyond focused on the economy of a few forceful riffs. The conversation also considered a possible Sepultura reunion; Cavalera said an approach to Andreas Kisser had stalled. These were his comments in 2010, rather than a current reunion announcement. The later 2015 coverage refers back to this period. [1]
