We've been asked to let you know that tickets to the Sydney Obituary show are now $30. Anyone with a ticket already can use it to take a second person to the gig for free.
Name: Ian Email address: primalagony@optusnet.com.au Comments: If that is the case for Sydney then we in Brisbane are getting ripped of by the promoter as ticket prices here are $48 each + booking fee per person. Can you ask the promoter what the deal is there as it hardly seems fair to have to pay about $20 more per ticket. Comment added [11/05/2007]
Name: Omenenator Email address: omen666@hotmail.com Comments: This is because of the influx of bands touring at the same time, and the myriad of promotion companies that have sprouted all trying to cash in on oversea's artists. I agree with you Ian, people outside of sydney shouldnt pay higher prices cause nobody is going to the SYD show. Thats what happens these inexperienced companies book NILE/Decap and obituary on the same night. There is even one band filmin a dvd in Tasmania.. these guys dont know what they are doing... Name:Pyro Comments: Ian, apparently this deal is happening in Melbourne too, so it's likely Brisbane may see a similar deal. Comment added [11/05/2007]
Name: brad Email address: hipknot@hotmail.com Comments: has it been comfirrmed for melbourne? shame in a way for so many years we have no bands and then a tidal wave of them. With local promoters having to fight with each other in a way. guys organise yourselfs plenty of weekends to go around Comment added [12/05/2007]
Name: andy Email address: veiloftear@people.net.au Comments: Are you shure about this as i got my ticket throught ticketek and they have no info about this news Comment added [12/05/2007]
Name: Luke Email address: draygon_187@hotmail.com Comments: Hmm, this is a very interesting thing to happen, unfortunate for Obituary who have put in all these years of hard work, just to have there first tour to Australia over shadowed by the younger bands (IE Decapitated/ Nile), Does any one know who got the support for the Sydney show? Comment added [12/05/2007]
Name:Pyro Comments: The Day Everything Became Nothing are one of the supports in Sydney Luke. Can't recall the name of the other band. Comment added [12/05/2007]
Name: Adam Email address: painted_aura@msn.com Comments: Yep, well...it's sweet about the discount. But fucked about Nile being on the same night. Personally, I'd go to Obituary over Nile anyway. But all the death metal cunts would be going to Nile. I feel sorry for Obituary, I hope theres a decent turn out for them. Obituary should get postponed for next wednesday. And for Ian; Alot of people in sydney still have paid 50 bucks to see them, we don't get that 20 bucks back. Plus...its 50 bucks man...who cares? Comment added [12/05/2007]
Name: Omenator Email address: Omen666@hotmail.com Comments: Yeah, tis abit sad, the bands suffer whilst the promoters think they are doing justice to the aus scene by bringing em out. The days when there was conflicting local gigs was bad enough, but this is just rediculous. Maybee this will make promoters wake up. Though i doubt it Comment added [13/05/2007]
Name: metaltoon Email address: metaltoon @optusnet.com.ua Comments: Now I've seen people saying Nile/ Decapitated are on the same night, but in sydney they are a week and a half apart from my understanding, plus they are playing the same venue. Comment added [13/05/2007]
Name: fission_mailed Email address: bgsarevok@hotmail.com Comments: That's correct. There's no night in Sydney, or any other state, that I can see Nile/Decapitated and Obituary playing at the same time. Comment added [13/05/2007]
Name: Ian Email address: primalagony@optusnet.com.au Comments: I have seen Obituary about 6 times in my overseas travels and they blew me away every time. To be honest I wasn't even a huge fan the first time I went to see them but walked out a massive fan and saw them every chance I got since. So if it was a choice to spend my money on Obituary or Nile, then Obituary would win every time and I can't stress enough just how great they have been each time I have seen them live. Name: brad Email address: hipknot@hotmail.com Comments: i would pay close to a 100 to see this band been waiting a long time. bloody tickettek charged 9.60 for booking fee for the melb show. who is making the money there. Comment added [15/05/2007]
Name: Wegleserin Email address: wegleserin@hotmail.com Comments: A friend of mine tried to get in to see Obituary in Sydney under the assumption that the discounted price was $30. He was told it was now unfortunately $50. Understandably pissed off, he showed them the ad mentioning only $30, but was still refused. He decided not to bother getting in, and judging by the poor turnout, others decided the same. It was all bullshit, apparently. What a crappy thing to happen! Poor Obituary, alright. Name: Luke Email address: draygon_187@hotmail.com Comments: Ive got to say that Obituary were easily the heaviest band ive ever seen, and they only had one guitarist!! John Tardy's Voice is immaculate even after all these years.. the turn out was slightly disappointing, The day everything became nothing and the other band (Who's name seems to be eluding me at the moment) put on a solid show...Good night all around *Thumbs up* Bring on more old school Floridian death metal bands (Morbid Angel im looking in your direction!!) Name: Daniel Email address: dv_racing@hotmail.com Comments: The ticket deal went ahead in Melborune and the venue seemed pretty full. It was a heavy arse shows and the only thing missing was Allen West. Alarum were also fantastic. Darkest Dawn put together a solid set. Comment added [18/05/2007]
Name: Ian Email address: primalagony@optusnet.com.au Comments: Gig was good and as haevy as always but with only the one guitarist they certainly lacked that extra spark I remember from my past experiences of seeing them. Well you were certainly looked after in Melbourne with the $30 deal because we got really screwed in Brisbane. Pre-sale tickets were about $50 and on the night they (the promoter from what I gather) put the price at the door up to $65 which is just pure bullshit and obviously trying to make up some funds from the previous small turn outs from what I have heard. Was it worth $65, unfortunately although I enjoyed it I would have to say no because having Alan West missing really did have a big impact. I doubt we will ever see these guys back judging by the turnouts which is a real shame as they are still after 20 years one the best Death Metal bands around. Comment added [19/05/2007]
Name: Manu Email address: reapermb@hotmail.com Comments: Yeah, Ian, I'd have to say I agree with ya. I went to the Sydney show with my brother, and we both had 30 bucks each on the assumption the tickets would still be 30. Got there and found out they went back up to 50 .. I almost left cuz I didn't have money, but managed to get the extra 20 together. Great show none the less, was up the front the whole time, average turnout. Missing Allen West definitely made an impact -- I wanted some blistering solos! Comment added [20/05/2007]
